Hello Parents,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! It will be like no other! My name is Connie Starr, and I will be your child's teacher.
A little about myself... I have been teaching for 30 years in public, private and charter schools. I have been teaching Montessori education for 22 of those years, with 18 years of experience in grades 1 -3. My heart belongs to Montessori education and I believe it is the way children learn best and thrive the most! I am certified in Primary and Elementary Montessori Education, with an A.M.I. Certification in Primary and A.M.S. Certification in Elementary Education. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from A.S.U., a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from University of Houston, and a Master's degree in Elementary Education with specialization in Montessori education from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. Before becoming a teacher I was a set designer for commercials and movies, a Job Coach for Deaf adults, a flight attendant, a nanny, and the Assistant to the Director of a motivational seminar corporation. This is the best job I've ever had!
I spent the 12 years living and teaching in New Jersey and moved back in 2014 to be with my ailing father who passed away in 2015. I have been a part of the Villa community since 2014, and have found it very rewarding!
If you need to reach me during the year the easiest way is to email me at [email protected], or send a note in your child's communication folder (the plastic folder with the Velcro tab), and I will write back or schedule a time for us to speak.
I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to being with the children and learning and growing together! This is a crazy time for all of us. All I ask of you is that you do your best. One day at a time! We can do it together!
Sincerely,
Ms. Connie Starr, M. Ed.
